John Hopping - Adult Ministries Pastor
Born and raised in Sydney’s northern beaches John came to faith in Jesus at Teen Ranch, a Christian camp, at 14 years old in 1970. He met his wife Lynn, a registered midwife, at the Eastwood church and they were married in 1990. John and Lynn have three children, Rebecca (1993), Matthew (1996), and Jacob (1998).
Following school John was employed for 5 years by the ABC and trained in electronics. He completed a Diploma of Divinity and Missions at the Sydney Missionary Bible College and then entered pastoral work in 1982 having completed a Bachelor of Theology and Masters of Arts (Theology) at Morling College (1982-1991). He has served in pastoral ministry at Leura BC (1986-9), Eastwood BC (1989 – 1993), Petersham BC (1993-1999), West Ryde Chinese (2001 – 2002) and here at RCBC 2003 – present.
Brendan Devine - Youth & Young Adults Pastor
Brendan is from Victoria Point in Brisbane and has been on staff at Reedy Creek Baptist Church as Youth & Young Adults Pastor since mid-2011. Brendan married his long-time girlfriend Sumarni in November 2010.




Brendan has completed a Bachelor of Ministry from Malyon College in Brisbane. He has served in vocational ministry for the last 7 years as a Scripture Union chaplain, a children's pastor, and a Youth Pastor
.
Dave Blunden - Worship Director
Dave grew up on the Sunshine Coast where he attended the school where he met his wife Tania. In 2003 they moved back to the Gold Coast and have called Reedy Creek Baptist Church home ever since. Dave and Tania eagerly await the arrival of a new baby to their family in December 2011.

Dave graduated with a Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Education in 2002 with majors in Classical voice and Choral conducting. He has served as Head of Music at both King’s Christian College and Hillcrest Christian College. Dave has been involved in music ministries since the age of 12, and
specifically the worship ministry at Reedy since 2005 as both a volunteer and ministry leader.
Nicola Turner - Children's Co-ordinator
Nicola is New Zealand born and moved to Australia in 1981. She has been married for over 23 years to Steve and they have
the joy of raising four children Sarah 20, Matthew 18, Luke 14
and Christopher 9 years old.



She is a primary school teacher by profession, having taught for over the last 25 years in various schools from as far a field as Quilpie to here at Mudgeeraba. She was 4 years as a Scripture Union Chaplain at Clover Hill State School before assuming the role of Children’s Ministry Co-ordinator at RCBC in 2006. She is currently looking to study for her Associate Degree in Theology.
Alex Walter - Youth Worker
Alex has been a part of the fabric of RCBC for nearly 10 years, where she started a youth internship in 2008. She recently married fellow creeker Scott Walter in October this year.





She has completed a Diploma of Youth Work through YMIS college in association with Scripture Union and was called to serve as an associate chaplain at Hillcrest Christian College at the begining of 2011. She is currently studying a Bachelor of Ministry through Morling College in Sydney.
Alan King - Administrator
Lived in Sydney for 50 years where he attended Haberfield Baptist church. It was there met and married his wife Beth in 1987. Alan has four children and eight grandchildren. Alan and Beth moved to the Gold Coast in 2002, to enjoy retirement.


Alan was employed with the Sydney County Council, as an electrician, project manager, and section manager. He has also served Haberfield Baptist in numerous capacities but most prominently as Church Secretary for many year. He has served at RCBC since 2003.
Cheryl Walter - Secretary
Cheryl has been on the Gold Coast since 1979, when she moved with her husband Phil. They began attending Palm Beach Baptist Church in 1981. They have two children, Scott married to Alex, and Shelley married to Daniel. They also have two adorable grandsons, Jasper and Zeke.

Cheryl taught Sunday School from her teenage years and she and Phil were youth leaders at Wynnum North Brethren, Gumdale Brethren and Palm Beach
Baptist at various times. Cheryl commenced secretarial/reception duties in the church office at Palm
Beach in October 1988, and then Reedy Creek in 2001.
Trish Miller - Pastoral Care Co-ordinator
Trish moved from Sydney to the Gold coast in 1995 for health and family reasons. She attended Banora Point Baptist for several years, before making the transition to the newly created Reedy Creek Baptist in 2001. She has two daughters April, and Lisa, and seven grandchildren.

Trish has been serving in pastoral care ministry and community welfare for nearly forty years. She has served as the pastoral care co-ordinator and community welfare director of Campbletown baptist church, a consultant and director fo the Church of Christ family welfare office in Sydney's western suburbs, and a full-time voluntary pastoral carer for Banora Point Baptist Church. She has been serving in her capacity at RCBC for ten years.

We offer a variety of ministries for everyone in the family, including a fantastic Children’s Ministry, unbelievable Youth Ministry (Friday Night Live), Young Adult Ministries, Ministries for senior adults, diverse Bible Study and Christian lifestyle

uplifting, encouraging and meaningful contemporary worship services.
OUR SPIRITUAL DNA

DNA is a nucleic acid that contains the genetic information used in the functioning of all living organisms. Each living organism has a genetic code or recipe which accounts for the uniqueness’s of each living thing.


 

In reference to church, spiritual DNA refers to the unique spiritual code which accounts for the distinctiveness of each local body of believers.
The spiritual DNA of RCBC consists of mission, vision, and core values which combined together make us who we are and who we want to be. Our spiritual DNA is “what we bleed when you cut us.
